Maiden Press Privacy Policy

We recognize your privacy is important. Maidenpress.com aims to adhere to best practices and high standards of decency, fairness and integrity in all our operations, including efforts to protect our online visitors’ and customers’ privacy on this website.

Who we are

This is the publisher website of Maiden Press LLC at: https://maidenpress.com

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

We collect personally identifiable information from visitors to this website on a voluntary basis. This may include your name and email address if you provide it in the context of a contact form or request subscribing to an email newsletter, requesting alerts, participating in contests, surveys, giveaways or other engagement you may initiate, such as contacting us to ask questions or seek help. This page outlines the personal information we receive and collect when you use any area of https://maidenpress.com. You’ll also see some of the steps taken to safeguard information on this website. Hopefully, you’ll find these details helpful in making an informed decision about sharing personal information.

Newsletter

Visitors who sign up for an author newsletter have their name and email address collected for the purpose of inclusion in a mailing list. This list is stored off-site, by a secure, encrypted Third Party mail service. It is not shared or sold. Subscribers will be asked to provide their First and Last name when their subscription is confirmed. No other requests are made, and no phone number is requested. If customers ever receive communications that appear to be from Maiden Press but request other personal information, please do not respond, but copy the email to info@maidenpress.com as suspected phishing.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile avatar if you have one  is visible to the public along with your comment.

Adding an image to your comment

If you upload an image as part of your comment,  safeguard your personal privacy by avoiding embedded location data (EXIF GPS) on your image. Anyone who selects your image can extract that data, and it cannot be removed by website admin at beatriceknight.com. If we notice such data, we may delete your comment and image to protect your privacy, however we are not responsible for checking images we did not create.

Cookies and Web Beacons

We function within standard Internet architecture, and cookies are an integral part of that. Cookies are identifiers that are transferred to your computer’s hard drive through your Web browser; these enable our systems to recognize your browser. The purpose of a cookie is to tell us that you have returned to a specific page on our website. For example, if you register with any of our services, a cookie brings up your specific information on subsequent visits. You may choose to accept or decline cookies by modifying your Web browser. If you decline cookies, some features of this site may not work ideally for you. A web beacon is a transparent image file used to monitor your journey around a website. They are commonly used by sites that use third-party services to monitor traffic. They may be used in association with cookies to understand how visitors interact with the pages and content on the pages of a web site. An example is advertising. If our website serves a third-party advertisement, it will use cookies and web beacons to ascertain how many times an advertisement in viewed and/or clicked. No personally identifiable information you give us is provided to third parties for cookie or web beacon use, so you cannot be identified or traced using that information on our web site. Browsers can be set to accept or reject cookies or notify you when a cookie is being sent. Privacy software can be used to override web beacons. Taking such actions, if you choose, should not cause a problem with browsing our website.

Leaving comments / Logging in

Most of our site is public and requires no log in. If you leave a comment in a private area protected by log-in (for example blog contributors may access such areas), you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

How You Can Correct or Remove Information

We provide this privacy policy as a statement of our commitment to respecting and protecting visitors’ personal information. If you would like your personal information deleted from our records, please unsubscribe via the link at the bottom of any email from us and we will automatically delete your data. If you wish to correct personal information, first unsubscribe, so your data is erased, then after 24 hours re-subscribe using your correct information. You are in control of this process.

Where we send your data / with whom is your data shared

Visitor comments may be verified through an automated spam detection service. Personal information visitors/customers voluntary provide is used only for internal purposes and is not sold to third parties. The information collected is internally reviewed, and may be used to improve the content of our website, notify visitors of updates, and respond to visitor inquiries. We do not solicit or “mine” your personal information for the purposes of profit – we leave that type of legal theft, data manipulation, and privacy abuse to Big Tech. If you prefer never to share any personal information, do not subscribe, comment, join, or otherwise interact on this website. You are still free to enjoy all the content made available to our visitors.

Data breach procedures and information protection

We are not a bank or some ultra secure, massively funded operation. We have taken the following measures to prevent cyber attacks on this website: we pay for professional site and server security systems and software, security certification, and various types of spam screening; site admin conducts routine sweeps every day for malware and other evidence of hacking. If, for any reason, we believe visitors’ personal information has been compromised, you will hear from us. Since we would probably only have your name and email, all you would need to do is change your email password as a security precaution, and contact your own email provider for any additional security measure available to you in such a scenario.

Copyright information

All information, posts and images on this website are copyright to Maiden Press unless expressly stated otherwise. Site users are welcome to quote from website content, and use images, provided you cite/attribute appropriately and link to the original source on this website.

In Addition

Non-Personal Information

In some cases, we may collect information that is not personally identifiable, for example to gather demographic information about our user base as a whole, to analyze trends, to structure the site so that popular pages are easy to find, and so on. This type of non-personal information collected is used solely for internal review and improvements in site functionality. We do not share our analytical information with other organizations for commercial purposes.

Beatriceknight.com reserves the right to make changes in this privacy policy.
